General Settings

The final section of the Settings tab within your school settings is the General Settings. There are quite a few options in here which we’ll go through in more detail below.

Hide weekends in calendars

This setting affects all calendars in the system including the restrictions calendar and chooses whether weekends are shown in the calendar or hidden.

Default lesson length

This is the default length for music lessons. When a teacher clicks to add a lesson to their time table this will be used to determine the end time. Don’t worry if you have lessons of different lengths the teacher can override this so just use whatever length the majority of your individual lessons will be.

Enable/disable shareable calendar display view link

This setting enables or disables the link that allows you to share your calendar. We’ll cover this in more detail in another lesson but in the calendar view there is an option to copy a link which shows a live view of the day/ week. This can be displayed on a screen or tablet so students can find out when their next music lesson is.

Change the format of the learners names on display view

Jumping around slightly the setting at the bottom of the right-hand column is related to the above. If you have the display view enabled you can use this setting to select what information about the learner is displayed for safeguarding reasons, i.e. if the screen is somewhere accessible to the public. You can select whether to display First name and Last name (John Smith), first name only (John), last name only (Smith), first initial and last name (J Smith) or first name and last initial (John S).

School Timezone

This setting chooses which timezone lessons are shown in, teachers can select their own timezone when they create their teacher account so if they’re seeing something different to everyone else please ask them to get in touch with us.

Default restriction length

This is the default length for your ad hoc restrictions. Your lessons will pull through from your MIS via Wonde and we’ve covered adding these as restrictions in a previous topic. When you click to add a new restriction to the calendar this setting will be used to determine the end time. Don’t worry if you have restrictions of different lengths you can override this so just use whatever length the majority of your ad hoc restrictions will be.
