Music as the beating heart of society

I founded Practice Pal because I wanted to see a common sense solution to some of the problems we face as music teachers.

There was a clear need for a technological solution to support teachers as they encourage their students to practise. This is where Practice Pal began – remote practice supervision where the music practice mentors are highly and skilled and able to support the excellent work of teachers. The frustration with the lack of progress which results from not having a good practice routine pushed me to find a solution. Other companies were offering solutions but they all required extra – unpaid – input from music teachers which, as an overstretched working musician myself, I didn’t approve of!

Practice Pal has continued to look for common sense solutions for solving the problems in music education which is how the expansion into an ecosystem of music teaching software came about.

The music teaching community is vital to a healthily functioning society – music is the most established way in which a society evaluates and understands itself, how it understands its history and how it directs its growth. As music teachers, we are enabling the next generation to understand the musical narrative and to pick up the melody and add their voice to this beautiful process.

At a time where music is so often judged by financial measures rather than by the value of beauty and the value of a society’s cumulative soul, an equipped and enabled music teaching workforce is needed to right the balance and fight for the identity of our society.

This is why our vision at Practice Pal is to contribute towards a world where music is valued as the beating heart of culture and society.
